This past April Wilma was doing a Prospective Student Day in Philadelphia, so we took our time getting there and did some really neat walks!
Glen Watkins - St. Park
They were grooming the trails at this state park so we weren't able to walk around here, but went a bit East to another state park where we walked for 14km and saw a ton of falls and enjoyed the beautiful spring air!
One of my favorite falls - reminded me of a cupcake!
To get a great picture we had to cross this chilly creek
View from the top
We spent the night in the suburbs of Philadelphia in gorgeous German Town where we enjoyed a very unique hotel and a walk down the cobblestone roads! I wish we could have spent more time there!
This is us the next morning before class started
Wilma was checking this school out prospectively for her Masters in Counselling - was a beautiful facilities and all the staff was very accommodating!
So this may have happened - end of April, IN NEW YORK CITY! Ok, it was technically in New Jersey, in the bay! We didn't have the fly on at night and I must say staring up at high rises is a much different experience then staring into the starry sky!
You may not be able to see it, but we are pointing to Lady Liberty - we were so close!
We arrived in NYC later Friday night and wanted to make it to Times Square to see the lights... on roller blades! It was an adventure for sure! Next time I'll just take the Subway!
Beautiful city at night!
Jerseyville, New Jersey - Our walk to the ferry - loved this street!
Memorial to 9/11 with PATH Bus lines terminal in the background which is also dedicated to all the fallen. I wish I had better pictures of the inside as it was completely all white! Flooring - white tile, walls were all painted white, white marble pillars, white chandeliers, and white ceilings! Loved it
The time that went into planning this architecture alone would have been painstakingly long, it was really neat to experience this and be standing on the very ground where such sad history was made.
A moment of silence was definitely taken, thanking God for His mercy in our lives!
The name of every single fallen person was engraved on the edges of these structures! There was even one name a saw with her "unborn child" in brackets - was really heart wrenching!
Experiencing a whole other culture here!
Had to include this picture because of the upcoming election!
Walking in one of the sketchiest sections of town! Shhh...don't tell my mom:)
Brooklyn Bridge completed in 1833 making it the oldest cable-stayed/suspension bridge in the United States and was the longest suspension bridge until other countries decided to steal that title.
My first ever subway/public transit (unless a taxi counts) - such a cheap and easy way to get around this hustling town!
"Times Square can't shine as bright as you, you know it's true"
For my fellow snapchatters out there - this one is for you!
I cannot describe to you the joy I felt as I saw this sign - I know it's just an off shoot, but it's still Carlos Bakery!
Taste testing the sweets - I think I broke my wallet for these, but it was worth it!
Central Park
You all know the bird lady from "Home Alone" This folks is her rock and it's no myth the pigeon legion is real as well, although not seen in this picture!
Another very famous spot in Central Park
Bethesda Terrace
Wilma on right hand side of this picture, we legit roller bladed down these steps!
All the trees and blossoms were in full bloom - my absolute favorite part of New York City. We didn't do a whole lot in the actual city. Next time I'm definitely checking out more of the arts!
All the gardens in Central Park were absolutely amazing as well! Definitely a spot I'd like to go back to in this world, but other places to see first!
Brooklyn in the setting sun!
