Blue Mountain

We have been trying to make it out to Blue Mountain for quite some time now, but it's so hard when there are different work schedules, etc. However our schedules finally all lined up and it was a free day! So it was time to "hit the slopes".... as they say.
The Schmitzville was our first stop... for some freshly baked Raspberry Buns - so yummy!

 Putting on the boots
Two of the many hills at Blue

Chris decided he wanted to ski instead of board - good choice for him - he did amazing!
Ready?
Part of Chris' rental package was a group lesson - he received a "private" lesson of sorts and in 15 minutes was as good as any pro...:)

It was SO pretty - the snow on the trees, the bush, the river through the woods, etc
At the top of one of our favorite hills there was a Beaver Tail Station - took this picture for Jenelle - the Beaver tails will come later:)
The view from the top - notice the lake in the background - there was low visibility for most of the day, but occasionally we were able to catch a glimpse!
Any photographer would've had a hay day! Liz!
hmmm - cell phone camera's can't quite capture it!
Nope we're not cross country skiing - we took a longerish hike across the top of one of the hills - view = spectacular!
Pretty girl, Pretty picture - notice the benches!
First Chair lift - poles were hand dug into the ground - men dug with picks through heavy clay and rock - thankful for the new and improved!
 Beaver tail station!
My vote would have to be the cinnamon and sugar Beaver Tail - warm, sweet, delicious!

The quality of these pictures are not the best, I only had my phone with me - didn't really want to carry my camera around on the hills - you never know!
Thankful for the fresh air, wonderful company, good exercise...

Now on a little different note - Happy March 1st everyone!

I Am Your Shield

This is a song that has been a great encouragement to me and so I wanted to share it with all of you, hoping that it will minister to you and encourage you on... even during the dark times! May He give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of those secret places!  I Am Your Shield Rachel Wissman My child are you discouraged  By the sorrows of the day Does it seem like life is crumbing The skies have turned to grey Don’t forget I gave you promises to guide you every hour In the moment of your heartbreak Let me show you my great power   And I will be your shield When the battle rages on And I will be your light when the way ahead is dark I will be your strong tower And guide you every hour Just place your life completely in my hand I know it won’t be easy I never said it would But my grace will always be there My plans for you are good Remember that your weaknesses are perfect in my sight Only when you yield them to ...

Christmas Preparations & Finishing up Second Semester

2017 seemed to be a year full of new adventures and "firsts"! I hadn't been home for all the hustle and bustle of Christmas for 5 years and boy did I ever miss it! Starbucks and studying for finals filled my December Experiencing and practicing out skills out in the "field" - preparing us for our final practical Something I've really missed doing - hanging the Christmas lights out at the farm! This year Ben helped James and I - a great night filled with music, laughter, and cookies (thanks Jo-Jo)  "Festival of Lights" - OWEN SOUND  It was a very wet/rainy night, but it was PERFECT! Ben and I had so much fun walking around Owen Sound talking, laughing, and experiencing the beginning of many new Christmas things together! The firework display was incredible, just in case anyone is thinking of checking it out next year - GO!!! They also did a great job at displaying many different set ups of Christmas lights!  Oh, and what better ...

South Africa 2016

This is a super overdue post and I struggled to find the pictures I wanted to add, but here is what I came up with...ENJOY! I surprised my younger brother by purchasing an airline ticket months in advance, but waited to tell him he was coming with me till a week or so before. He had been talking about wanting to travel with me to South Africa, and I was so glad that it worked out! You're never too young to experience these things in life! James (and clan) dropped us off at the airport - So appreciated this, as parking and flying wasn't the most ideal for a four week trip. I booked our layover for Switzerland as I had a friend I wanted to visit, as well as Switzerland had been on my bucket list of places to explore! My friend picked us up from the airport and brought us back to her place for breakfast and a quick shower! She had the whole day planned out so well. We visited the Carma Chocolate Academy  which is where they make and produce the chocolate for all...
