Our last few days in Swaziland where spent mostly close to "home". We ventured out a bit, but just really appreciated and valued the many walks and talks I was able to have with my eldest siblings!
On the Monday before we left - we drove down to Mkhaya game reserve about 1hr S/E of Mbabane - when we left Mbabane it was cool and cloudy (as you can tell from the pics - I am wearing a sweater) but by 10am it was 40 and cloudless! We weren't all prepared with hats like we should have been, but it was definitely an experience bouncing around on an old army quad in the middle of absolutely nowhere seeing Rhino's, Hippos, Giraffes and SO MUCH MORE!
Our little bomb minus our tour guide - AFRICA
Our first sighting - PUMBA - it was kind of funny - The guide kept saying WARTHOG, but because of his accent it was really hard to understand so he started singing Hakuna Matata
Just Jenelle and I hanging around like normal granny gypsies would!
Pumba does not like company! Surprisingly enough they run at the sight/sound of people! Watching them waddle was priceless!
Perhaps one of our favorite sightings! This 6ft+ iguana darts like lightening, buy also loves feasting on dung!
Spot the croc - I took this pic mostly for the scenery aspect of it, but there is a crocodile popping his little head out of the water, just a baby one though!
These beautiful giraffes - literally one of my favorite animals - watching them walk and interact with eachother - one of the most majestic animals you'll ever see!
We stopped for lunch in the middle of the bush - was such a cute little spot and a much needed break from bouncing around!
These Impala's came right up to us - not any zoom on this picture!
Our quaint little oasis in the dessert!
The rhino's and hippos staying cool together - here in this picture there are 6 hippos!
At one point the one hippo swam right to the waters edge were we were and the guide was all chill about it - BECAUSE HE DIDN'T SEE IT - when Chris yelled - he frantically tried to start the quad! Hippo's are one of the most dangerous animals in South Africa and have the highest rate of casualties!
The white rhino - just waltzing around!
The Cape Buffalo - one of the BIG 5 in Africa - very dangerous as well and would crush the vehicle if felt threatened at all!
The white rhino's on a super hot day enjoying the cool mud!
We all got burned in the hot sun - but Jenelle got really bad heat stroke! Only took a few days for her to recover!
Was a beautiful game reserve and had it not been quite so hot we would have seen a lot more animals!
