The Days Leading up to Christmas

A lot of really sad history right here - they would walk the guilty from the village below up the long side of the mountain to the highest peak. If they survived being pushed off they were considered "clean". You can only imagine what kind of life they would have after they had been pushed from such a height...IF they survived! So sad!
Barefoot grocery shopping - yes guys you gotta try and embrace as much of the culture as you can!
This folks is epic, gross if you really think about it, but epic!

Swimming on Christmas Eve - we may need to make this a new tradition if I am in a warm country! 
Jenelle and I cooked and cooked and cooked Christmas Eve till our feet hurt! It was crazy fun to be in the kitchen again with her as we used to spend SO many hours together here! It's a great bonding thing, I promise you should try it!
Introduced Chris and James to these amazing dutch donuts - Oliebollen
This we have decided is going to be out Christmas Eve tradition - not the norm New Years Eve!
So Christmas Eve we ate these delish sweets, watched a movie and played games! Till 12:00am then went directly to bed!:) :We were all so done!
So happy to be together for Christmas!

Christmas Preparations & Finishing up Second Semester

2017 seemed to be a year full of new adventures and "firsts"! I hadn't been home for all the hustle and bustle of Christmas for 5 years and boy did I ever miss it! Starbucks and studying for finals filled my December Experiencing and practicing out skills out in the "field" - preparing us for our final practical Something I've really missed doing - hanging the Christmas lights out at the farm! This year Ben helped James and I - a great night filled with music, laughter, and cookies (thanks Jo-Jo)  "Festival of Lights" - OWEN SOUND  It was a very wet/rainy night, but it was PERFECT! Ben and I had so much fun walking around Owen Sound talking, laughing, and experiencing the beginning of many new Christmas things together! The firework display was incredible, just in case anyone is thinking of checking it out next year - GO!!! They also did a great job at displaying many different set ups of Christmas lights!  Oh, and what better ...

(Parts of) Family Day

Family Day was different this year then others - it had become an annual tradition to go hiking, however due to some conflicting plans it didn't work out this year! Some went here, others there, yet we were all together for dinner!  I took Faith and the two youngest boys swimming - there was hardly anyone there, the boys so enjoyed it!  Game time  Music Time  Grandma wanted help cutting out her runner...  At 10pm I got inspired to do a cake - I had a gracious helper:) My Dad's project for the day! It's so nice - getting all these projects done around here!

2017 Re-Cap

2017 was an incredible year filled with MANY changes and experiences I never imagined would befall this little country 'gal. January - Started off with by returning to school (full-time) . In pursuit of me following my life long dream of becoming a Paramedic I needed to take Biology, Chemistry, and Math credits as it had been 6+ years since I last took any of the sciences. The Pre-Health  program at Conestoga seemed to be the best option, as I wanted to get my accreditation for  Paramedicine   at Conestoga College. Returning to school was quite the adjustment as I had not been in full time school for 6+ years, but it quickly grew on me as I got to know my colleagues and schedule. It took me awhile to re-teach myself how to study... it's different as an adult! February - Within the first week I found out that as a mature student, using my grades from the "Pre-Health" program (instead of my highschool transcript) they would NOT even look at my application for Param...
